The Hostel Times

- Birgitte's News-

Hi again,

Second month of spring and what lovely weather we have had. The gardens around the hostel are looking really lovely. We have a really good gardener at present and he is doing a good job at keeping everything neat and tidy. He has a special talent when it comes to roses and the rose garden is particularly beautiful at the moment. I have been able to take some of the roses inside to share with the residents. Most of them have a lovely perfume.

"Show and Tell" Afternoon

This is well attended by the residents from the 3 modules. At our last one we learned about Vienna. Residents that had been to the place shared their news. It has become a real good social time, where everyone can express themselves if they wish to or just observe, if that is what they choose to do.

New residents in our hostel: Several new residents have moved into our facility this month. We welcome you and hope you are settling in well.

Fashions: Jasfa's fashions came and showed a very good selection of clothing for our residents. Some of our residents were commenting on how good it is that the "shop come to you". The next visit won't be until sometime in the New Year.

Bible Study and Prayer Meeting

The bible study that Erna used to conduct has had to stop due to family commitments. We thank Erna for her time she spent with the residents. Erna will still conduct some of the worship services at the hostel.

Prayer Meetings are each Wednesday afternoon at 15:00 hours. All welcome to these sessions. The prayer meeting is in the main lounge. Last month this meeting was conducted in one of the resident's rooms. This resident has the whole bible on Audio and they were able to listen to it there.

Activities in October:

We have quite a few different music programs planned for this month. This is always enjoyed byt the residents and we only repeat performances that are an enjoyment to them. From time to time we conduct a survey and evaluation of the value that the residents put on our performance and this is what decides who stays.

This Month: We had a lovely Fathers Day program and all our men received a lovely little parcel with a chocolate inside. The kitchen had also been busy and made a lovely lunch for them.

Hairdresser: One of our haridressers is no longer with us, but I am very happy to announce that Mandy our hairdresser from Wednesday is happy to take on all the clients. She is going to spend all of Wednesday here with us. We are very fortunate to have someone that is willing to come here. It makes it a lot harder when you have to go to town to have your hair set.

Attention Happy Shoppers:

The time has changed for taking the bus shopping on Tuesdays due to resident's requests. The new time is: leaving from reception at 9am returning to the village at 12noon.

I will stop for now - looking forward to catch up with you next time,

God bless you and take Care,

Birgitte
