Future Developments

Society is changing and the expectation of new residents is different to that of a decade ago. There is little option but for the operators of the Village to continue to provide facilities that will optimise residents and staff well being, providing them with a home and workplace that they will enjoy and feel part of.

This includes:

  • the replacement of the existing High care facility with a new unit. Our current 34 bed high care high care facility has reached the end of it's natural life, and while it has served us well for the past 30 years, we need to replace it with a building that will create an atmosphere of warmth and a sense of home. The Village operators have approved a contract with the architectural firm of Paynter Dixon to prepare a Development Application with the Redland City Council which we hope will be submitted by the end of 2008. We plan to increase the bed capacity of our Residential Aged Care Facility that will assist and care for members of our village, the local community and beyond.

  • the replacement of some exiting Independent Living Units to better serve the needs of an increasingly aging population and a more discerning demographic.

  • the continued refurbishment of some existing Independent Living Units which includes new kitchens, bathroom & laundry, plus the installation of air conditioning, solar hot water, electric garage door openers and full security.

We are currently considering the possibility of providing some assisted living apartments for those in the community who do not qualify for residential care, but who are unable, for a myriad of reasons, to care for themselves. As the Federal Government has changed the funding for Residential Aged Care and taken finances from the lower end of low care and are now going to fund the higher end of high care, there is a growing number of elderly Australians who, through no fault of their own, will need some kind of support but be ineligible for Residential Care. We are currently evaluating whether we can assist this demographic in our community  by providing some accommodation on our site.
